Fall Pumpkin Nails

When you think about Fall, what's the first thing you think of? I think of pumpkins! Between lattes, candles, baked goods, and jack-o-lanterns, pumpkins are everywhere. Today, I have an easy pumpkin nail tutorial. Follow the jump to find out how to recreate it!

This mani features shimmering pumpkins with green stems. I made the whole design matte for a cool effect. These nails were super easy to do.

1. Paint nails black. I used Orly's Liquid Vinyl. It's the perfect glossy black nail color. A matte black polish could be used if you have one.

2. Make pumpkins with orange polish. I made pumpkin shapes at the tips of my nails with Zoya's Jancyn. I applied 2 coats of it so the pumpkins would stand out against the black background.

3. Apply a sheer shimmery orange over the pumpkins. This step is totally optional. It turns out that I had a perfect polish for it - Tanzy by Zoya. I loved the effect it gave the pumpkins.

4. Add black lines on the pumpkins. A black striper is perfect for this step. You can get one at Walmart, which is where I got mine. It's by Salon Perfect.  Make the lines slightly curved so that you maintain a round shape.

Right now they look like basketballs!

4. Add a stem and a topcoat. I originally tried using a brown, but it didn't show up that well, so I opted for a bright green. This green is Mitzi by Zoya. I used the striper once again under the stem to give it a cleaner look. I also added a matte topcoat (Butter London Matte Finish topcoat) because I loved the way it made the pumpkins stand out. You can use a shiny topcoat for a glossy finish.

So how do you like this simple pumpkin nail design? Will you try it?
